East Coast Observers (ECO) provides expert endangered species monitoring of sea turtles, marine mammals, migratory birds, manatees, and sturgeon. Specializing in Sea Turtle Relocation Trawling, ECO maintains a vast network of trawlers throughout the US Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. ECO is a small, woman-owned, disabled veteran-owned business.
Started for and by observer Trish Bargo, ECO is dedicated to providing professional observers approved by the National Marine Fisheries Service and the US Army Corps of Engineers. The ECO Observer Training Program ensures that our observers are trained in species identification, legislative and reporting requirements and safety at sea. ECO is always looking for good people that share our passion for protecting the environment. Requirements to become an ECO observer include: BS in Biology (or related field), previous experience with marine mammals and/or sea turtles, must be physically fit and able to lift 50lbs+, not susceptible to sea sickness, work well with others and independently.
